Sand Blades

This image is interesting to me because of the treatment they've given the photograph on the edges to make it look worn, almost antique. I also like the blades, they seem so human, their shadows cast on the sand, definitely have limb-like qualities. I find myself not questioning so much why there are blades in the desert, but why the artist chose this item to place in such desolation.

San Base Modern Fine Art

I was intrigued by this piece because it is so obviously created with the use of a computer, but it still has depth and texture. The use of so many different hues and abstract elements, gives it a dreamlike quality, but still so vibrant.

Hail New World

This image is very haunting and ethereal, mostly caused by the dense fog that builds up as your eye moves deeper into the image. When I first found this image I thought it was just an interesting photograph, but as I scrolled down to view the bottom of the image, I saw the table with the pigeons playing dominos. This element added a surreal feel to the image and changed the way I though about it.

I saw this artist in my intro to video class. She was extremely interesting, relating her video projects to neurological systems. She used many "spy cams" so that viewers in one part of her exhibit were projected onto televisions in another area, to other viewers. I loved the way she combined technology and organic systems, giving each of them new meaning.

North County

This play followed the lives of many different hispanic families living in North County. It had such a range of individuals from young children to couples who grew old together. I attended this play for Chicano art class and found many of its concerns to follow those we spoke about in class.
In regards to VSAR 404, I found this play tackled one of the biggest social concerns in our community, being illegal immigration.

Social Issue

The social issue I will be focusing on this semester is genetic engineering.
